Did you know that there are eight different benches placed along the River Ver?

Each bench tells the story of the River through engravings of people, places or wildlife associated with the Ver.

However, hidden on each bench is a carving of Kevin the Kingfisher, he’s not always in the same place, so see if you can find him when you walk along the river with your family.

Kingfishers

Two kingfishers live quite close to the stream
Their names are Kevin and Kylie
We would like you to read the rest of this verse
To help keep them happy and smiley

When the days are long and bright
Their colours red and blue
Shine brilliant in the warm sunlight
But are not often seen by you

Kevin and Kylie are very shy
And the only thing they wish
Is to have a nice clean river
Where they can look for fish

They sit for hours on a branch
Then suddenly they’ll dash
Into the river for a fish
It’s over in a flash

So if you see them here today
You are one of Ver-y few
And remember while you’re watching them
They may be watching you!

You all can help those lovely birds
In many, many ways
By doing just a few small things
To give them happy days

Please take all your litter home
And keep the river Ver-y
Clean and tidy all the way
From Kensworth to Kingsbury
