AGM Tuesday 21 Oct 2025
Guest speaker: Danielle Durant, VVS Member and Cookery Expert
What to do with a Crayfish!
Venue: 7.30pm, Cottonmill Community Centre, Old Oak, St Albans AL1 2EF.
FREE event. All welcome.

Following on from the success of last year’s wine tasting which gave everyone plenty of time to talk, we are adopting a similar style this year. Signal Crayfish are an invasive pest on the Ver, digging deep burrows into the bank and creating a great deal of unhealthy sediment which clogs the vital gravel bed.

In part one of the meeting, Danielle has agreed to demonstrate how to prepare a crayfish dish which we will all then have a chance to try, while enjoying a glass of wine/non-alcoholic refreshment and catch up with Society friends old and new.
Danielle offers cookery classes and courses via her business, The Cobbled Kitchen www.thecobbledkitchen.co.uk – the emphasis is on “Cooking from scratch; a more sustainable way to feed ourselves – better for our health and better for our planet”. So, who better to invite to take centre stage?

In part two of the meeting , there will be brief reports, the latest Ver Valley news and then voting by Society members for the 2025/6 committee. As per the Society’s constitution at each AGM the Officers and Executive Committee shall retire but may be eligible for reelection. Nominations are invited. These should reach the Secretary, Joe Randall, by Tuesday 14th October. Proposer and seconders from the membership will be required.
