Litter Pick – Punchbowl Lane Sunday 27th February, 9.45am – 12 noon.
The Ver Valley Society has organised a first litter pick of 2022 on Punchbowl Lane, off the A5183 Redbourn Road.
We’d be delighted if you could come along! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we’ll know how many are coming. The weather forecast is for calm, dry weather!
We’ll be picking litter along Punchbowl Lane (off the A5183 Redbourn Road) – from its verges, hedgerows and field edges. The lane is a small part of Ver Valley Walk 4 and used by members and visitors alike. We noticed last year that the lane has a large number of cans, bottles, balloons and other small items of debris scattered along it. We are back this year to pick up as much as possible while the vegetation is sparse.
Veolia Environmental has kindly allowed us to park on their access road for the duration of the litter pick. We’ll be meeting here at 9.45am. Please enter via the open gate, turn your car around and we’ll all park on the left side of the road with our cars facing the gate for an easy exit at the end.
There will be a briefing for everyone at 9.45am on the access road for everyone, whether you come by car, bike or on foot.
We’ll be picking from the junction of the Redbourn Road to the top of the hill on Punchbowl Lane. Everyone will be in twos or threes filling separate bags with recyclables and landfill rubbish. Depending on numbers, each group will have a set length of the lane to pick.
St Albans Council and Veolia have kindly provided litterpickers (bring your own if you have them) and rubbish & recycling bags. We only have some gloves and fluorescent tabards so please bring your own if you can. Stout shoes or boots advised.
Punchbowl Lane is generally quiet on Sundays but expect some cars, occasional farm vehicles and cyclists. We’ll carefully cross the Redbourn Road near the Veolia Road and walk 50 metres along the footpath to reach Punchbowl Lane.
Let us know that you are coming – and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
